Late Summer Holiday

I have just returned from a late summer holiday with the wife, daughter, son in law and grandson. Just last week saw us taking the late ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo, a fairly lenghty crossing but we had taken a cabin so was able to sleep most of the way.

Woken by some lovely music at 6:30am saw a quick cooked breakfast and then on the road to a little town, Saint Pol de Leon, about two and a half hours south.

Arriving too early to book in we spent the time exploring the town, lunch in a lovely little bar and it was soon time to make our way down to the "home for the week".

Reception for the small holiday vilage we stayed in. Lovely little houses, more like a starter home than a holiday let. Two good sized bedrooms, kitchen diner, separate bathroom and toilet.

The room from the bedroom window on the first morning. Looks like it was going to be a nice day

The front of the houses looking back up through with the town in the background, probably about half a mile away

About a 10 minute walk away was the shore, a long leisurely stroll took you along a promenade to the dge, where the was plenty to see, shoreline, braking waves, boats, and in the distance, just past the headland was Roscoff, home to the |Plymouth -Roscoff ferry. The wife and I spent a few hours down there, taking pics and generally enjoying the view.

Middle of the week saw the birthday of our daughter so we went off to Roscoff to find a restaurant to celebrate the occasion. A lovely little place, so quiant in the way that it held to tradition. There was also a local market on that day, all foodstuff and plenty of sea food. An enjoyable couple of hours spent wandering around.

All in all an excellent week with plenty of relaxation for all. The highlight of it all. Taking the 6month old grandson Will swimming everyday. Such fun for all as a family unit.
